Party Girl

I haven't 'partied' in quite some time {literally and blog-er-ly} so, here goes...

Who/What/Why of Blissfully Burton

1. I'm Megan, the author of this little blog.  I'm a daughter of Christ, my parents, and a sister to a fabulous gal. I'm a wife to an awesome man which we share a beautiful daughter - I'm not at all a proud parent. ;) Actually I'm crazy in love with her! I'm *hopefully* a good friend to some and an encouraging teacher to students.  And I'm one very proud Auntie Ma Ma.

2. The blog started out following the engagement of my husband and I. I blogged about us building our first home, trying out new recipes and making my own, going through pre-marital classes, decorating and wedding showers.  All the crazy and fun times to be had together and with our crazy friends.  Then it turned into my wedding blog where I shared each step with whomever was reading and through the ins and outs of learning to live together! But now, my blog has turned into my little baby book of our daughter.  I've chronicled my entire pregnancy and beginning of motherhood.  I'd like to say I'm a keeping it real kind of Momma and blogger.

3. My why is a funny thing. I started it to keep out-of-town family and friends in the look.  But now, I feel like it's therapy for me! I've always loved writing and this just seems like the perfect niche! I've grown to love posting and re-reading back over my life.  I've made several friends through blogging and grown to have a huge respect for these women who write real posts. You never know what or who you'll be helping in various ways!

PS- I started blogging WAY before I had a cool name. #bloggercoolfactorfail :)

Babies, Babies, Everywhere!

Lots of new babies have been born in the past couple of weeks! I'm so happy for my friends!

Remember my team-teacher Mary? She held those babies in for 4 whole weeks of bedrest! They came healthy and happy, and too darn cute!
Yay for Genevieve and Marielle!

how pretty is this family?
My old roommate, Jamie, had her little baby, Stella! What a cutie!

Look at this little beauty! Although this little one's Momma and I aren't close, we work together and I just had to share the picture! Another gorgeous baby Stella!

My cousin Hope had her baby just a few days ago! Welcome baby John Parker! I can't wait to meet you in person!

Now, just praying for my sweet pregnant friend and a few very close friends of mine who are waiting for their prayers to be answered for a little baby.

Easter 2012

Easter was so great! We enjoyed the message at our church, enjoyed being with some of our family, and enjoyed our baby. Although we did keep up with the traditional Easter Bunny gift, I cannot WAIT to get to share the true meaning of Easter with Harper.  I hope the make the Easter Bunny only a side item to this blessed holiday. I'm even hoping that next year we can do some fun activities from here to begin Harper's knowledge of how Christ rose from the dead for us.  I just know it will be so amazing to share this story with her.

We took Harper to church and she did great! She napped before church so we weren't too sure, but she did just fine! {check out Harper's church picture with Pink Lou Lou here!} She had on the same outfit that we had her 6 month pictures taken in.

Then we headed to GG and GDaddy's for a huge Easter lunch and egg-hunt with the kids!  Harper got crazy loaded down with some adorable smocked clothing for this summer and fall! Whoa Momma! You did too much!

Easter Morning from the Easter Bunny!

her little sweater had smocked easter bunnies on it too!

stylin' in his seersucker suit!

seriously?! how amaze-tastic is this hat?!

the cuzzies in their Little English Easter outfits!
Happy Easter!

Keeneland Season!

My favorite time of the year is here! And I get to enjoy it!  Keeneland Spring Meet opened up this past weekend. It was absolutely the nicest weather weekend for Keeneland we can remember!

To me, Keeneland is so much fun! My hubby and I met there...but that's not the only reason! It's a fun place to get dressed up (or not!) and people watch! Oh, and of course watch some ponies race.  There's several different areas to hang out in and as I've gotten older, my preferences have changed. Of course, I never would have thought I'd be taking our DAUGHTER there when we met 4 years ago! On College Day, in fact! Ayi yi yi!

Since Brian took off Friday, we decided to head to Opening Day on Friday afternoon to see what Harper thought of it all. Well, she LOVED it, as we expected her to. She enjoyed seeing horses for the first time and looking around at all the new things! I enjoyed looking at all the silly college kids but kept wondering if I ever wore those short skirts that showed all my cookies?!?! I sure hope not! HAHA Who knows, maybe I did. But let's not remember that.

"uncle" Adam and Harper - he sent out the sweetest tweet about picking up the cutest girl at Keeneland :)
Harper {and us} loved it so much, we decided to go ahead and go back on Saturday since the weather was going to be even better! We came a little more prepared with lots of toys, blankets, and Harper's big hat to shade her a little better.  We stayed on the back paddock area where there was lots of green space, it wasn't too crowded, and we could see the races through a huge jumbo-tron. It was wonderful! There were actually lots of families with little ones there; we had never noticed before! ha!

seeing horsies for the first time

such a sweet and easy-going baby

We saw our friend Alison and her Mom was so sweet to Harper! Thank you Mrs. Patrice!
We finished the oh-so-fun day off with dinner at Merrick Inn patio. Yum! Harper is just loving sitting in the highchair, and we are too!
Can every weekend become a 3 day weekend with my family AND include this wonderful weather?!?

Spring Break Week! 2012

Woo Hoo! Sorry for the blogging break! Harper and I were just having too much fun this week!  I had one of the best weeks ever! What a wonderful break I was blessed with! We had lots of fun playing with Mom {GG}, playing with friends, having fun lunches, cooking yummy dinners for Brian, and just hanging out!  Brian even took off Friday to hang out with Harper and I. It was great!

So, here's our week in pictures ~

We enjoyed the great weather with some pool time with the cuzzies...

We cheered on the CATS win against the dirty Birds with our friends...

{and also tried baby food for the first time!}

{love my family!}

We had fun playtime...

We tried learning to crawl {almost there!}...

We enjoyed swinging in our new front porch swing...

And of course, cheering on the CATS big NCAA Win!

Hubby and I also had a super fun date night celebrating 4 years together! I met Brian downtown right after work {thanks Mom for keeping H!} and we got drinks and dinner at The Grey Goose and then Blizzards! It was fun and such a great patio night!

We had an amazing week {which I'll do some catch-up posting this week} and I do not want it to end! This school year has been so hard for several different reasons. I am just hoping to finish off strong and hope that my students know how hard I'm working for them!
