Ribbons Galore!

I just can't seem to put the ribbons down! Here's 2 little things I made over the break for our Christmas decorations~

Ribbon Christmas Card Wreath:
First, I am SUPER excited to send a photo card this year! I have always loved all my friends who send picture cards and always been a tad jealous of them! So finally I have joined to 'married club' and I get to send a photo card! YAY!
Here's a link to view the card: Our Christmas Card

I also love to display the Christmas cards I get, but don't love them taking up my fridge. So, I made this super simple card wreath and have it hanging on my pantry door in the kitchen. I can't wait to get your cards to hang up!

I also made this Ribbon Tree to place on our mantel. I showed a picture of it on this post, but here it is up close:

Gobble Gobble!

Happy Thanksgiving/"When are you going to have a baby" Day!

Ha! As my sister so lovingly put it; now it's finally your turn for all the questions!!

{Mom, Dad, Granddaddy, Kelli(& Cameron), Colby, Eric, Brian, and Me}

This Thanksgiving Day, I am very thankful for my parents; whom I've realized because of them all my other blessings come from...
{1} Thankful they raised me in a Christian home where I was aware and learned about our Savior from very early on.
{2} Thankful they were always loving to me and showed me how to love others.
{3} Thankful they helped me in school and taught me to work hard.
{4) Thankful they showed me how to be a friend and how to choose friends wisely.
{5} Thankful they showed me how a loving relationship exists and lasts.

The list could go on and on...but I'll stop right there. :) You get the point. I don't think I would have waited for this amazing husband or been able to get such great friends in my life without them.
Thanks Mom and Dad. I love you!

I'm in Love

After finally having time to sit down and read from back-to-front my latest Southern Living magazine, I found a new website I am IN LOVE with! What is it about? Well what do you think?! Monograms!

Southern Proper Monograms by Mark it with a B

The SL magazine featured the cute monograms as the tag on Christmas presents. Adorable, right??
I mean, this could be on an empty box and it'd still be the best gift! The 6-inch monogram is just $10... That wouldn't be too bad to purchase if you exchange an ornament on a gift each year. My Mom and sister do that by putting the same flat ornament on their gifts to each other each year. She keeps trying with me; but I keep forgetting to do it! ha!

After I did some searching I found this sweet wreath, too!
Ahh, love it!

Too bad it's a little too late to put on a Christmas Wish List!

*A cheaper version would be to purchase a single letter in Curlz font at Hobby Lobby and attach on your gifts. You could paint or leave wooden. With it only costing .99 per letter, you could do each southern gal in your family!

**Also, this really makes me want to get on finding good fonts for my Cricut so that I can make all the cute items I keep purchasing for others!

Jordan's Wedding Weekend!

One of my favorite couples, Nick and Jordan, got married this weekend! It was SO fun! We started off with a Bridal Luncheon on Friday afternoon, followed by the rehearsal and dinner at Malone's Banquet {we're partial to that place! haha}, and then an amazing wedding on Saturday!

As I've mentioned before, Jordan is another one of my friends in our original Life Group. The 4 of us girls {Amanda, Alison, and Me} have gotten married within 7 1/2months of each other. Isn't that crazy? We agreed to have babies in that amount of each other too, HA! :) Yeah Right!

*A few cool things she did that other brides may want to copy are...
~we rode in a Lexington trolley from the church to the reception site, it was pretty cool!
~her hubby is an obsessive UK fan; so the bridal party went to take pictures in front of commonwealth stadium...it's going to make cool pictures!
~they had a live band versus DJ; my DJ experience was horrible, so I'd highly suggest this group if you live in the area- Better Off Dead

Thanks for including me in your Bridal Party Jordan! It was a blast!

Our First Christmas {Decorations!}

Ok, so from my last post we had started decorating our tree last weekend. This week I've been working more on decorating. I know for this year especially, I can't have everything perfect...but that's ok! Even since I took these pictures I've already changed a few things, so look for more pictures in the coming weeks!

More pictures to come {including the front porch!}

Also, look for the cute ribbon tree on my site soon! I haven't had any time to make anything new, but this little tree was too cute to not share! :)

Too busy to blog?

No way! I just need a catch-up day! I can't believe I haven't blogged all week! I'm sure the 2 friends and my Mom who read are really missing it... haha :)

I can't wait to share all my photos from 2 HUGE events this weekend PLUS share my very first Christmas-y house decorations with you!

But ~ that will have to be later in the week, because my hubby and I are about to watch the CATS play!

Have a great Moanday! :)

Saturday

I had the best Saturday in a long time. I slept in with my husband, we put up our first Christmas decorations all day, and watched football. It was amazing to have a low-key day with no plans. That doesn't happen very often for us!

Here's a little Blackberry pic of our tree. More to come!

Taco Ring

I made this yummy and easy dinner for my mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law on Thursday while they were up for a visit!

Although it's a simple meal, you could really dress it up with salsa {which I had ready but it went bad :(}, colorful veggies, etc. It was an easy weeknight dinner after work, but it would make for a super fun appetizer to bring to a tailgate or night of watching basketball games! :)

Thanks Mom for giving me this recipe!

What you need:
2 tubes of crescent rolls {I used reduced fat Pillsbury}
2 bell peppers
jalapenos
sour cream
1 lb. hamburger meat
1 bag shredded cheese
Frank's red-hot sauce
taco seasoning
chopped lettuce
2 tbsp water

How to make:
{I used the Pampered Chef pizza pan, but any circular pan will do!}
Preheat over to 375 degrees
Cook meat according to package and taco seasoning mix
Combine meat, cheese, hot sauce, and water in a bowl and mix well
Arrange crescent triangles in a circle on baking stone, overlapping center and points to the outside
Using a medium scoop, spoon meat mixture at center (meat will not be totally covered)
Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown

Cut the center of one bell pepper and place in middle of stone with salsa or sour cream inside.
Mound lettuce, peppers, and anything else you choose around the pepper in the middle of stone

Serve by using a pizza cutter to cut and a spatula to serve.

Easy and Yummy!
Enjoy!

Hayden&Cooper

There's not many chances Brian and I get to spend one-on-one time with either set of nephews. So we were excited to babysit Cooper and Hayden {SIL's kids}. B's sister and husband had to make a quick trip to KY for a funeral, so we were able to spend Friday and Saturday with them. On Saturday, we got to babysit both boys all on our own for about 4 1/2 hours. YES, we changed diapers and fed the baby, twice! :)

Hayden is 3 and he is a very active little boy. We were running from one activity to another! Cooper is 5 months old and is a very happy baby! He was just along for the ride; laughing and cooing! We played trucks, rolled a ball up and down the stairs, colored pictures, made a card for Mommy (it was her bday on Saturday), and I had made cookies for Hayden to decorate.

{Cooper!}
{Hayden!}

{B's turn with Cooper}
{Me and Hayden playing trucks}

{Yea, this is exactly what it looks like! ha! Holding onto Cooper so he could 'be apart' of decorating cookies for his Mommy; holding on to Hayden so he didn't fall off the stool and helping him squeeze out the icing after he picked out which colors to mix and make!}
{they turned out pretty cute...if you love globs of icing on your cookie! haha}
{Heather, my SIL, blowing out her birthday cookie candle!}

I also invited my sister and Colby over so Colby could play with Hayden. They came a little later in the day when everyone was back at our house. The boys had a fun time playing! All our nephews are going to be so close in age! Now, if we could only get Heather's family back up to KY we could all play all the time! :)
{Hayden & Colby playing trucks}

B and I had a great time, but we laughed a lot during and after wondering how parents do this on their own and especially how single parents do it! We were trading turns with Cooper and Hayden with definite team work ~ I can only imagine how hard it is to take care of both with only 1 adult!!

Kudos to you parents! We are excited to begin that journey...just not yet! ;)

Jordan's Last Fling

Last Weekend we had Jordan's Last Fling before the Ring! It's only 2 weeks away now! I cannot believe it! I am so excited for them!

It started with a Lingerie Shower and Brunch at Alison's home.

Next, we went to Keeneland to enjoy some ponies racing.

Then we made it to Bakers360 for dinner and fun! {I didn't take any pics there! whoops! Sorry Jordan!}

It was a fun day with the girls! :) Can't wait for November 20th!

Christmas Decoration Help

This will be my first year decorating a HOME for Christmas. I am overly excited about this...except...I can't find anything I am looking for!!!

Ok, maybe not anything, but just not what I am imagining in my head. I always do this, think of something and then I can't find it!

We did buy a Christmas tree, and 2 small ones to frame our front door, as well as a lighted garland for our long staircase. On the garland, I am hoping to add big ribbons {shocker, I know:)} and some large polka dot ornaments.

On my tree...well, me and B disagree on this. He wants a fun family tree with ornaments from everywhere we've been. That's ok, but I'd rather do that on a smaller tree and have a tree where everything matches.
He's going to win this argument, because in the grand scheme of life, there's other arguments I'd rather win. ha! :)

I also realized how expensive Christmas decorations are! I've come to realize I may not get everything I want this year, but hopefully we can hit the after-Christmas sales for the next year.

2 big things I can't seem to find are stockings for us and a tree skirt. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a damask print, houndstooth, or polka dot print. I've already looked at Ballard Designs, Pottery Barn, and little specialty websites. Do you have any suggestions?!?!

Warm Bourbon Cider

I found this yummy little drink for my Book Club. It's super easy to make and very delicious. I don't like the taste of bourbon, but the hubby does a lot. So, I've been trying to make some drinks involving it! Remember Bourbon Slushie? Mmmm!

Here's what you need:
1 gallon apple cider
5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
3 cups bourbon
{I was running late and realized I didn't have nutmeg like I thought I did. So I didn't include it. I couldn't tell that it needed it!}

Here's how to make:
In a stockpot, heat apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.
When mixture is hot but not boiling, remove from heat and add bourbon. Stir to distribute spices and divide cider among 20 mugs.

*I used my crock pot to keep it warm. It not only tasted good, it made the house smell good as well!

Enjoy!

At 6:30 am...

...I love listening to these new songs, especially on my way to and from work!

{The Afters ~ Light Up The Sky}

{Dave Barnes ~ God Gave Me You}

Can you tell I just figured out how to post videos? Ha, I always over-due things!

I also went to Lifeway tonight and picked up a new study to do. I finally finished the books Brian and I were working on and realized I needed to get into something else, maybe on my own. After I got home and started on it, I am pretty sure I've already done this study a few years back! Oh well...it was obviously something I need to continue working on - prayer.

AND they had some Christmas stuff out, so I bought a very cute but cheap little door hanger! I can't wait to decorate our house for Christmas for the first time!

I'd like to dance like this:

We'll miss you this year!

Caramel Apple Dessert

This recipe comes from the Martha Stewart Living, November issue.

I fixed it for Book Club and it was so good and fairly easy! It makes a lot though, so fix when there's more than just 2 of you eating!

Prep Time: 15 min. Total Time: 5 hours 15 min. Makes: 16 servings

What you need:
60 Nilla Wafers, finely crushed (about 2 cups)
1/2 C butter, melted
1 pkg. (8 oz) fat-free cream cheese (I did fat-free and it tasted good)
1/4 C sugar
3 1/4 C milk
1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed
2 pkg. Jell-O Vanilla flavor instant pudding
1/2 C caramel ice cream topping
1 green apple, 1 red apple; chopped
1/4 C planters peanuts, chopped

How to make:
MIX wafer crumbs and butter; press onto bottom of 13x9 inch pan
BEAT cream cheese, sugar, 1/4 C milk with mixer until well blended. Stir in 1 C Cool Whip; spread over crust
BEAT pudding mixes and remaining milk with whisk 2 min. Stir in 1/4 C caramel topping. Spoon over cream cheese layer, top with remaining Cool Whip.
REFRIGERATE 5 hours or until firm (I did it over-night and it was fine). Top with apples, nuts, and remaining caramel topping just before serving.

Enjoy!

Book Club!

This month (Oct.) was my month to host Book Club! I was so excited because I've really enjoyed making it to all the other ones (despite not reading the books) expect one.

Because October is SUCH a busy month for me with work (parent-teacher conferences with every kid!) I decided to be realistic and say we would read a magazine. :) Some of the other members didn't like this too much, but hey, it's still reading!

So we read the October issue of Southern Living. Of course, I threw this dinner right in the middle of us getting our beadboard up so B was working very hard to finish it! I had about 12 people RSVP, but some last minute cancellations. Oh well, they got extra favors and Sarai and I got lunch for the next day! haha

I made a couple of new recipes, which I will share soon! I had the open-faced hot chicken sandwiches, twice-baked potato casserole, Caesar salad, fruit & honey, spinach dip, caramel apple dessert, and warm bourbon cider!

Here are a few pics from the night:

{Favors} {Pumpkin Bread and Peanut Hummus. The SL magazine featured peanut hummus, so I tried to make it as the favors. I thought it tasted nasty, but some of the girls did like it!}

{wrapped silverware napkins~I always do this when I host people, I think it adds a little something!}

{My little creation! French bread with the holes scooped out filled with Doritos chip chicken and hot sauce baked with cheese and lettuce with ranch drizzled over. They were SUPER yummy!}

{college friends!}
