Saturday Night Love

We had one heck of a fun Saturday night!!! Two of my friend's got married to wonderful guys ~ one a surprise and one planned!! So here's the crazy story of the night along with a few pictures!

Andrea {my friend I taught with} had her wedding on Saturday. I was her guestbook attendant. :) Her rehearsal dinner on Friday night was so fun too, but I don't have any pictures from that night... My other friend Whitney {from childhood} was having an engagement party on the same night.  Well, she had planned it just about 2 weeks before, so I decided I probably wasn't going to make it since I was in Andrea's wedding.  Meanwhile...I secretly found out Whitney was planning a SURPRISE wedding that night for her guests! WHAT?! haha! She lives in Australia after following her love of her life {I should post a story about this, so romantic!} and was only going to be in the states for 5 days!  Also, Brian was in Cincy this weekend taking his tests Friday and Saturday. He wasn't getting out of the test until 4:00 on Saturday and I hadn't talked to him at all that day to tell him what I had found out! So... I went to Andrea's wedding around 4:30 for pictures and so. Her beautiful ceremony was at 5:30 and ended promptly at 6. Well, Brian arrived at our home around 5:50 - so I ran home to pick him up, we drove very quickly downtown to see Whitney, and then drove out to Keeneland and made it before Andrea's wedding party was announced into the reception! Shew! I was glad I got to do both, but wished I was able to stay with Whitney longer, too.  She graciously invited us over to her brunch on Sunday morning and we were able to catch up with her and her sweet new hubby, Rick!

Sunday Morning brunch with Allison and Whitney

It was such a fun weekend! I love it when big groups of friends are able to get together! I love that I got to see two wonderful girls marry wonderful men!!! It seems like it's always getting harder and harder to get everyone together, so weddings are the perfect thing!! :) And, even though there aren't any pictures, I was a trooper-preggo! I danced the whole night away {seriously, until midnight!}! Luckily, I was smart and wore flippy flops! :)

Wedding Showers:
How many wedding showers should one friend be invited to?
Do you count the Bachelorette-Lingerie Shower combo in on this?
If you attend more than 2 showers, do you also bring a gift to the wedding?

Rule of Thumb during my Wedding: The most girls were invited to were 1 shower and 1 bachelorette party. Thus, 2 total for some.

Jordan's Wedding Weekend!

One of my favorite couples, Nick and Jordan, got married this weekend! It was SO fun! We started off with a Bridal Luncheon on Friday afternoon, followed by the rehearsal and dinner at Malone's Banquet {we're partial to that place! haha}, and then an amazing wedding on Saturday!

As I've mentioned before, Jordan is another one of my friends in our original Life Group. The 4 of us girls {Amanda, Alison, and Me} have gotten married within 7 1/2months of each other. Isn't that crazy? We agreed to have babies in that amount of each other too, HA! :) Yeah Right!











*A few cool things she did that other brides may want to copy are...
~we rode in a Lexington trolley from the church to the reception site, it was pretty cool!
~her hubby is an obsessive UK fan; so the bridal party went to take pictures in front of commonwealth stadium...it's going to make cool pictures!
~they had a live band versus DJ; my DJ experience was horrible, so I'd highly suggest this group if you live in the area- Better Off Dead

The Weekend {in lists}

{first} Thanks for all the sweet FB comments and messages about the post below. I just needed to get it off my chest, and well frankly I feel better about it now. :)

{second} I've decided that in my next life (career-wise) I want it to still be with kids, but all I really want to do is help show them how special, amazing, and unique each one of them is. I would like to teach, but I would like to teach not centered around a major assessment. Will you pray for an answer for me?

{third} My Backpack Buddy started today (Sunday). I am sooooooo excited about it! It's just up my alley, especially if you read #2. I write to a kid at a school in a surrounding county who receives extra food over the weekend from my church. In the letters I am to write about why he's so special to God, and begin to build a relationship with this child without ever meeting him. Did I already tell you how excited I am about this?! You only have to write once a month, but as a teacher, I know how much kids crave consistency, so I'm making it a goal to write him weekly.

{fourth} FALL BREAK is just around the corner! I get 3 days off school AND my hubby and I are taking a trip for our 6 month anniversary. YAY!

{fifth} This weekend we finally tried out the Spotlight Lexington stuff downtown. It was actually really fun! We hung out with my friends Allison and Whitney. Whitney is becoming an Aussie in about 3 weeks, so I was happy I got to spend time with her before she leaves. Because Allison works with DeRae Catering, we got tons of perks! (thanks, girl!) Yummy drinks and fun times in the extended cab golf cart ~ or KY Limo we were calling it! ha! We rode around all the parts of the Spotlight in comfort! Here are a few pics from the night:

{sixth} Usually, our night would end there...especially on a Friday night. However, the husband got a wild hair and REALLY wanted to see this bluegrass band play. Of course it wasn't the 3 free concerts that were going on, ha! So we made our way to Cosmic Charlie's to watch Trampled by Turtles. They were actually really good and it was fun. Allison and Whitney even made it with us! We were definitely seen as 'old' in there, but it was fun. (I will admit, I was happy when it was finally time for me to go home and go to bed. Whatever happened to "fun Megan"? Oh well...)

{seventh} I tried to plan a belated Housewarming Party on Saturday to watch the UK game. Too bad that was a bust. I was pretty disappointed, but it just seems like everyone is really busy these days. So we ended up cancelling and going up to our neighborhood bar to watch the game. I bet if we had our party we would have won. HAHA!

{eighth} Saturday night we had intentions to make it back downtown, but after a long night before, and a long afternoon watching the game (and eating non-stop buffet through the game) somebody got a little tired. I'll give you a hint, it wasn't me! :) So we ended up at one of our favorite pizza places in our neighborhood. OHH the conversations we always end up having at Puccinni's. Nothing I'm ready to tell just yet, but that place just gets us sometimes and we end up in these deep convo's! But my belly was full afterwards so it was all good!

{ninth} Our 6 MONTH Anniversary was on Monday. B tried to surprise me at school with flowers but we were out on release day and I forgot to tell him {whoops!}. However, I still received a beautiful bouquet and a very sweet card, and B received Cookie-Brownies and a card as well! We'll be celebrating this coming weekend with our trip that I mentioned in #4. Can you tell I'm excited?! My sweet little Momma saved a layer of our wedding cake and had it for us today after Sunday Lunch. I was pumped considering I never got to even taste it on our Wedding Day! It was actually very tasty, so I have high hopes about the cake topper in March!

Alison's Wedding

I've spoken about the 3 other girls in my life that are in my life group {too bad they don't blog, too!}. We've had other people come and go in the group, but the 4 of us have stayed constant for about 5 years now. That's a long time.

I remember when we started our study we were all in different places with many things in life, including relationships. And as I've stated in past posts, we've been through lots of relationships, guys, and just plain dumb boys together ~ but within one year all 4 of us got engaged and are all slowly getting married. It is so neat to share one of the main desires of all our hearts with one another and know how good, fun, and pure Marriage can be.

This past weekend was Alison's turn. Her wedding was so pretty! Here are a few snapshots from the night. Unfortunately the only picture of the 4 of us is on the photographer's camera...so that will be coming!

Brian and I have really been wanting to change my life group into a couple's life group and we are learning how important it is to have good Godly marriages around you to help your relationship. We are hoping to really make this happen with this group, it's just been hard with the different work schedules of everyone when not everyone has a regular 9-5 job. Hopefully that will change soon!

I LOVED picking out my dress. I found it fairly quickly, although not as quickly as my friends Jordan and Alison. They found theirs the first day of looking!
My wedding dress was one that I never would have thought up in my head. Some of the features were what I was wanting - not a lot of poof at the bottom, no princess ballgown, sweetheart neckline, etc. But what I was NOT expecting was to love a dress with full lace! I mean really? I am not a full lace kind-of-girl. But it seemed like that was the dress I kept going back to!



Some of the pictures above have me in them in a bridesmaid dress. Luckily I've never had any bad ones like in the movie 27 Dresses! But the one thing people always tell you is, "well, you can wear it again". You're thinking yea, right, huh? Well guess what?! One of my BM's DID wear her dress again!! Woo hoo! I was so pumped because honestly, I thought it was pretty stylish with a bubble skirt and wrap waist!

Wedding Wednesday

I have been so distracted by making wreaths I haven't had time to write in a while! While I'm still trying to figure out all the kinks in The Craft Store, I've actually had several people want monogram wreaths and sports wreaths!

---For my look-back on my wedding stuff, I'm going to share with you how I made my own table runners. We looked at all the reception place had to offer, but everything was a one-color option. Since I wanted to incorporate paisley in my wedding colors {of pink and green}, I knew I needed an extra something.

My mom and I searched for quite a while trying to find the right color paisley pink to match the Watermelon colored bridesmaid dresses. It was not easy! It was also not easy to find fabric in bulk that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

We finally found some fabric that was being discontinued. First of all I liked this because that meant no one else would have that in the future. But secondly, if we didn't measure correctly we wouldn't have enough!

We decided on placing the table runners on every other table as to not overkill the design.

Directions:
First we got the round table measurements and decided how long we wanted the runners and how wide.
Next (my mother and I do not sew...) we bought some No Sew glue from Hobby Lobby. As we cut down the length, we folded all 4 edges of the rectangle shape to make it look neat and clean. And it did actually look like we sewed!




Then I used the rest to wrap all my bridesmaid's bouquets.
