The Myth is/isn't a Myth: 1st Trimester

So...which one is it? In several different books I have {What To Expect, The Pregnancy Countdown, my Pregnancy Journal, the Doctor's Handbook, thebump.com} there seems to be a different opinion on when the first trimester ends: is it 12 weeks or 15 weeks?

If a woman is pregnant for 40 weeks, and you split that up into sections of 3...wouldn't it be 12 weeks?

Who knows! All I know is...there wasn't a 'light-switch' affect for me, but there has definitely been a 'slowing down' of sickness, so I will take that! I'm at 15 weeks {so working on my 16th week} so I'm hoping to begin cooking a lot more this week and hopefully even making some meat dishes now! haha!

I think I'm officially into the Honeymoon Trimester as the books says!

What do you all think?!

The Myth isn't a Myth: Pregnancy Brain

It's a for real, two-legit-to-quit, legal term, my friends. Do not roll your eyes. As I did before I was a preggo. Because, it comes, and not-so-sure, if it passes.  Pregnancy Brain.

I've lost my mind and that is not a quality to attain when you're in charge of 24 precious little things who rely on your every move to function.
Just. Not.

So, on Feb.1 {not sure when I'll be publishing this post?!} I looked up around 1:35 to a student who we will call Student A and asked ever so innocently, "Do you think I've lost my mind, or have you all have lost your minds, and I'm just trying to keep up?"
His response, "Mrs. Burton, you know I love you, but I have to be honest. I think you've lost your mind. But even if you have, I will still love you. So it's ok. I will just have to help you a little more."
OhMaWord.

So, today here's a list of items this usually OCD teacher lost and found after near panic modes:
pencil - it was behind my ear
award certificates - in the place I always put them
graded math tests - in the polka dot bin where they should be
water bottle - on the complex table
bathroom - I had to pee, majorly, but once I started walking towards the adult bathroom I forgot where I was going

Yea, that's right. That list up there all happened in one day. And the list is frequent to daily habits.  My kids think I'm going insane.  Hopefully once I tell them I'm having a baby they will tell their parents and their parents will beg them to forgive me.

If I can remember to tell them I'm preggo. :)

The Myth isn't a Myth: A Good Man is Hard to Find

{do you all like these?!}
Original Post 2/5/11
When you start thinking that the guy you're dating could become more, I would think we mostly think about how he would be as a husband and how he would be as a father.  But one thing I bet you don't think of is, How is he going to be when I'm pregnant?

Well, this is a BRAG post to one amazing man that deserves it... Duh, my awesome hubby. :)

My husband has been so wonderful since the moment that little stick showed a + sign.  He was there to calm me down, dream with me, and help me get through the first few sleepless nights due to mild anxiety about our lives changing {all in a good way, of course!}.

He's made me milkshakes at 10:30 because I was hungry.  He's learned to clean...and clean WELL so that I won't get sick off the smell of the cleaners and won't have my head in a dirty bowl.  He's hugged me at 7:30pm and told me it's ok that I'm tired and to just go on to sleep.  He's gotten up with me in the mornings while I'm sick, offered to help me get ready for work, packed my lunch on a daily basis, goes to the grocery, eats meals he cooks (what? Yea, if you remember this post, he's actually gotten pretty good at the cooking thing!}, etc.  He's done all of this and so much more, and all I can think about is how lucky I got with this guy. He's truly special and I hope all the men out there are this loving while their wives are changing and getting crazy!

So, what I'm really thankful for is that Brian took on this mentality: My wife is growing the baby inside her, but WE are pregnant. So when she goes through things, I try my best to go through those things with her. Because it's OUR baby.  Not that I'm that far into it, and I know I have a long way to go, but it just makes me feel so much better when I know hubby is there to tell me that I'm gorgeous even with the craters on my face {ha!}!

So...if you were looking for a funny today, I'm sure you aren't finding it here, but sometimes, you just need to brag on the man you said "I Do" to. :)

Have a great Moanday!

Hmmm...

Not 2 hours after I posted my Myth Monday below, my baby girl name popped up on someone's Facebook page.  Now...why isn't it that I haven't gotten off that silly thing?!  WAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

So, we are wondering...is this a sign we will or will not have a girl?! Ahhh, I can't wait to know.  Still holding out on the boy name. Haven't heard it...yet!!

What do you think we'll have?!

Myth is not a Myth: Naming the little bundle

I have been told by some wise souls several times before, "Don't say your names out loud. Someone will either take it, or it will become popular."  Well, I did it. I did it with hesitation, but I did it. I remember the conversation vividly.  A few of us book club members were all sitting around Mandy's dining room table discussing names. A few people were sharing, but I was trying my hardest not to.
And then I did.
And then it happened.
I heard my precious name about 2 weeks later.
And again a month later.
And again, 3 months later.
I will tell you that I did not cry, but that would be a lie.  All but the last time I wasn't even pregnant {or at least I didn't know I was!}. The time I found out my name was taken and I was pregnant...let's just say; thankful for having a sweet hubby who doesn't judge. :)

I also have been known to have a few major freak-outs in the past few weeks. Although I'm sure that is coupled with my crazy hormones {i mean, I've never been one for drama, right?!}, I know SO MANY PEOPLE who are pregnant!! I know a few friends, and more acquaintances that I'd never even know about unless it was for that darn Facebook. So I will tell you this...if my name is taken I will probably, I will cry. HA!

Now, will I still use my beloved name in-which-I've-loved-for-years? I am not sure... I guess we'll find out soon...

The Myth IS a Myth: Morning Sickness

Welcome to the first Myth Monday. This is just supposed to be viewed as something somewhat comical in due fact that I may never be the same as I once was before! ha! In no means will I write any of these posts from a 'mean' or 'mad' perspective. It's just all in fun and the memories I want to keep and remember.

Ok, this really IS a myth. Morning sickness is some made-up word by someone who could not have ever been preggo. :) It's an ALL DAY sickness type of thing.  We like to refer it to as 'getting sick' in our home in stead of puking to make it be cuter since it does refer to a baby, and babies are cute. ha!

Feeling puke-y, feeling nauseous, feeling down, crying for no good reason, feeling tired exhaustion, leg cramps, belly cramps, 13 yr. old acne all over my face, etc. lasts all day long and almost every day {at least it still is here at 11 weeks...}.  But it has become quite funny! In the beginning I used to cry because I cried, or cry because I puked, or cry because I can't open the fridge without getting sick. Now, I gag and we just sort of start laughing, really. I mean, what else are you going to do?! It's just funny when Brian gets home as asks why I am crying and I don't have a reason! Oh extra hormones!!!

However, with that said, I DO NOT want to look back at this post and think I was complaining.

Because you know what, this is just part of it! SO, keep your chin up and remember - this is a season and IT IS WHAT IT IS.

As my hubby likes to remind me, You're making a baby inside you for heaven's sakes! And he's right! God has blessed me with this unbelievable miracle inside and my other lady parts are a little jealous of their space getting smaller and smaller. You'd be mad, too, wouldn't you?! So...people say it doesn't last longer than your 1st Trimester.  My 'getting sick' started exactly at 6 weeks and I'll keep you posted on how long it lasts!  I only have a week and a half longer until I'm out of the first trimester, so keep your fingers crossed!

Here's what's in my current "Pregnancy Tool Kit":

It also stinks if you're allergic to everything and then you can't take your allergy meds! Hello allergies I've been fighting off for years!!! But again, this too shall pass.
*So...if you're in the middle of this craziness, just realize how lucky you are to be feeling this way, try and do your best to deal; tell your hubby, momma & daddy how appreciative you are that they are being over-the-top sweet to your crazy ways, and know it will be over soon. :)
