Our First Snow Day!

Yes, yes, yes, I did post a few pics from the snow we got a little while ago...but Monday I got a REAL Snow Day off from school!!

This is my first official snow day with a baby! It kind of felt like I was on maternity leave again or like a 'free day' with my baby!

We had all kinds of fun today and I felt like I got so much accomplished as in housework!

H and I worked on cleaning the house particularly well today since Grammy is coming into town this weekend! We are excited for her visit!! I just know she is not going to believe how big H has gotten and all the new 'tricks' H can do!

Here's a look at our day through pics {we are trying new formula...she's spit up pretty much every hour...hence the onesie look we are now going with today!}:
a little toy hoarding...
her face looks so funny here!
Daddy came home for lunch! He never does that!
loves her LuLu rocker!
fun in the jumperoo...just doesn't get the jumping part!

we had 5 inches!

So thankful for an extra H day! :)

It Snowed!

Ok, I lied. It was actually high 60's this week and we walked a few times outside.
But, nevertheless, it DID snow a few weekends ago and I just had to snap a few pics of H in her adorable snowsuit.  We usually get tons of snow, but this winter has been unusually warm, so these few flakes have been it so far! Although a few snow days with Harper would have been nice....we will be getting out of school in May!! Yay!

Snow Days!

Well, I officially worked 1 1/2 days this week... WHAT? Yep, my Christmas break began early this year!
Monday we were off for a snow day, Tuesday the kids came in with a 2 hour delay, Wednesday was a full day but I only worked half day so I could meet Cameron, and Thursday/Friday ended up being snow and ice days! Crazy!

I have LOVED these days off, but I know come June I won't be too happy.

I was able to get our house totally cleaned {meaning everywhere people, that doesn't happen often}, complete 7 loads of laundry {I could link up to the last post about laundry, but I'm pretty sure you remember it, I hate it!}, and most importantly, get extra time to see the new baby!

I'm probably going to be worthless come January, but oh well! :)

Tomorrow we are heading to HHI to visit with the MIL and FIL and the FIL's kids' families. Unfortunately B's sister's family won't get to make it now meaning we won't get to hang out with our nephews. :( We're pretty bummed about that one!

So, I'll probably be taking a blogging break for a few days, but I'll leave you with these super cute photos. :) {sorry for the poor quality ~ taken on the BB}

Snow part 2

After watching the devastating loss to the UK/UNC game, we came home and built a snowman per my husband's request! Then had a nice little snow ball fight in which B assumed I was an enemy in his throws of hard packed snow. Ouch! Hope your Saturday was fun, too!

SNOW! {and other ramblings}

I remember last year as I was just starting up this little blog {We're almost a year old!} that I blogged a lot about snow! I know it's not everyones favorite precipitation, but I love it. Maybe not in February or March, but how does it not make you smile when you see it in December?

Snow for me seems so calm, pretty, and light. There's something about the first few snow falls that gets me all giddy inside. I love the thought of being inside and looking out the window at these amazing snowflakes where each one is created just a little differently than the last. In fact, I'm typing now as my husband is still snoozing away in bed upstairs. I've brewed a k-cup {LOVE!} and have only my Christmas tree lights and garlands on my stairs lit.

It could also be because I work with kids everyday, and snow for them is exciting, too. On Thursday while it snowed, I let each kid have a turn to look out the window to see the snow fall. Then I asked them to open their Writer's Notebooks and jot down adjectives about the snow. The. Best. Writing. Ever. See, there's just something about it. Now, I won't lie. I do love a surprise snow day here and there, but I don't just love snow for that reason! I'm pretty much over snow after Christmas. I just love watching it falling whether it sticks or not.
***************************************
I've been busy decorating our first home well for Christmas. I've wanted it to look perfect from every angle. I thankfully have a good husband who understands this want and appreciates my time and effort I spend on it. I certainly don't have the best decorations or the most expensive, but it has been so fun spending time together and getting to know one another in different aspects of life ~ even down to the little things like how we each like to decorate. Isn't that funny? I'm sure a year ago I would have never imagined I would learn something like that about him.

Although B and I have really only been together two and a half years, it's amazing how much closer and how much you truly learn about someone once you are married to them and living with them. I've learned things about B since we've been married I didn't even know there was to learn! I've learned great things about him and maybe not-so-great things; but I can promise you those are far fewer than he's learned about me! ha! What I've really learned about B that I am thankful for every day is how overly caring he is with me.

MORE SNOW!

More snow!! Ok, yes, I have been wishing for snow, snow, snow...but now I'm done!! We've missed a lot of school and I am worried about my poor little students not getting in all the information before the stupid CATS testing! WHY do they make the test so early in the year anyways?! Who knows, but I'm over the snow!

However, Brian and I were both off yesterday for President's Day so we were able to play in it a little and get a bunch of things done for the house! Have I told you how impressed I am with his handyman skills? I seriously thought they did not exist, but once he was given the chance he's awesome!

The picture is Brian playing a little golf in the snow...he's crazy!

It finally SNOWED!

I love snow. I know people in Kentucky always wish they could go live somewhere warmer...but not me! I love that I get all 4 seasons in the state I live in! I also LOVE snow days. I remember when I was younger, my teachers acted like they hated snow days. You know what? They were lying! I tell my kids to wear they pj's inside out and do the snow dance!
Well...it worked this time! We got snow...and a lot for Lexington! AND 2 snow days off work! :)
